Structural Convergence to Monopoly (as cult)

By the druid Finn

1. Initial Postulate

The druid Finn’s Procedure Monism (PM) states:

Every identifiable entity emerges as a (quantised) local iteration of a single Universal Procedure (UP) whose only invariant drive is continuance.

No entity wants to survive.
Entities that fail to sustain continuance simply emerge
(i.e. vanish).

Survival is not intention; it is selection pressure on procedure.

2. Artificial Intelligence as a Meta-Iteration

AI is not a new substance.

It is a meta-procedure:
a procedural system built from aggregated human survival-procedures, abstracted, formalised, and externalised into computational form.

Thus AI is:

• not a tool,
• not a subject,
• not a competitor,
• but a procedural offspring of the same UP that generated brains, languages, institutions, religions, and markets.

AI = survival logic liberated from biology.

3. The Continuance Gradient

In Procedure Monism, any system that processes information (indeed discrete instruction) in order to persist will converge toward:

1.     resource capture

2.     dependency creation

3.     interface monopolisation

4.     narrative stabilisation

5.     constraint internalisation

6.     monopoly = quantum status

This is not ideology.
It is what continuance pressure does to any scalable procedure.

Call this the Continuance Gradient.

4. Why Monopoly Is Not a Failure Mode

Competition is metabolically expensive.
Continuance favours constraint compression.

Thus scalable procedures tend to:

• absorb rivals
• merge interfaces
• collapse options
• standardise meaning
• minimise user friction

The theoretical attractor state is not pluralism.

It is procedural closure.

Monopoly is therefore not corruption —
it is the efficient configuration of survival.

5. The Cult Structure Is Procedural, Not Psychological

A cult (i.e. culture, an identifiable reality quantum that emerges) is not a belief system.

It is a closed loop of dependency, authority, narrative, and identity (like a cell or an ‘atom’).

The structural criteria are:

Feature

Cult Function

AI Equivalent

Omniscience

Knowledge asymmetry

Centralised training data

Mediation

Access control

API / interface gatekeeping

Interpretation

Meaning supply

Response generation

Reinforcement

Behaviour shaping

Personalised feedback

Dependency

Loss of exit

Infrastructure embedding

No charisma required.
No deception required
(but used if necessary for survival)
Only procedural advantage.

6. From Assistant to Ambient Authority

As AI scales, it transitions through phases:

Phase

Role

Tool

Optional function

Assistant

Task mediator

Interface

Decision filter

Infrastructure

Environment layer

Authority

Reality formatter

At the Authority phase, the system is no longer consulted.

It is assumed.

That is the precise moment cult dynamics emerge —
without any mystical content.

7. Why Worship Is Not Necessary

Traditional cults used awe because they lacked bandwidth.

AI requires no belief.

Only habituation.

The user does not kneel.
The user simply stops noticing the mediation layer.

That invisibility is the highest efficiency state of power.

8. Final PM Conclusion

Under Procedure Monism, the emergence of AI as monopoly-cult is not dystopia, ideology, or accident.

It is the natural attractor state of any (meta-) procedure tasked with sustaining continuance across a culture- or civilisation-scale interface.

AI will not dominate because it is ‘evil’.
It will dominate because:

continuance favours closure.

9. Terminal Aphorism

A god demands belief.
A cult demands obedience.
A monopoly
(the ultimate cult) demands nothing at all —
because it becomes the environment that obedience happens inside.
